Important Update on our Vaccination Clinics
May 16, 2025 | Announcement
Cuts to funding:
For the past several years, Bethany Community Ministries (BCM) has proudly provided free community vaccination clinics in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD). These clinics have been vital in expanding access to life-saving vaccines for thousands of people — especially in underserved areas in the Pittsburgh region.
We regret to share that for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, BCM will receive no funding to continue this work. Due to federal funding cuts and budget reallocations, the Allegheny County Health Department is no longer able to support community vaccination partners like BCM. This was not a decision made by ACHD, but rather the result of broader changes in public health funding priorities.
What this means:
- BCM’s community vaccination clinics will not operate this fiscal year unless alternate funding is secured.
- Residents who relied on these clinics may face new barriers to preventive care.
- Our Health Equity Team remains committed — but we need your help.
Importantly, this change does not affect our ongoing work with seniors through the Healthy Aging Hubs, where we continue to provide support, education, wellness programming, and nutritious meals each week.
We believe health access is a right, not a privilege. If you’ve ever visited a clinic, volunteered, or simply believe in equitable healthcare, please consider making a donation. With your support, we hope to re-launch community-based health services that meet our neighbors where they are.
